HCV-HCS Screening Landscape in Siak
HCV-HCS Screening was studied in Siak Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia. The primary goal is identifying and mapping the HCV-HCS area also the potential threat. Siak has over 50% of peatland which is vulnerable to deforestation and degradation caused by plantation, forestry, and other activities.
The main findings of this study show that HCV and HCS areas in Siak are at high risk of land conversion, forest fires, and land expansion. The analysis also shows that some areas have rare and endangered species, unique ecosystem, which require further protection.
This study also provides specific recommendations for the management and protection of HCV-HCS areas, including the need for mitigation to reduce the threats of deforestation and fires, as well as the importance of collaboration between the government, communities, and the private sector in maintaining environmental sustainability in the region. The results of this study are expected to support Green Siak Initiative launched by Siak Regency government, as well as serve as a guide for the development of spatial planning policies and environmental protection in the future
