Daemeter conducted a pilot project in 2024 to map and analyze independent smallholders (ISH) for EUDR compliance using relatively affordable and accessible technology.

The project was funded by an EU-based buyer and piloted within one of its supplier groups, hereinafter referred to as the Pilot Company, covering five mills in Riau as well as West and East Kalimantan. It evaluated different approaches to assessing deforestation and legality under EUDR, identifying key trends and challenges related to ISH compliance.
