GIS & Remote Sensing Specialist
Daemeter Consulting is an independent, impact‑oriented consulting firm working at the intersection of forestry, climate change, and sustainable land‑use. The GIS & Remote Sensing Specialist plays a key technical role in supporting Daemeter’s work in sustainable land-use, landscape monitoring, spatial intelligence, and environmental analytics. The Specialist is responsible for delivering high‑quality geospatial products, remote sensing analyses, spatial data management. The role contributes to spatial analysis, project implementation, knowledge management, proposal development, and cross-team collaboration within the Geospatial & Informatics Knowledge Area (G&I).
Spatial Data & Remote Sensing Analysis.
- Acquire, preprocess, and analyze satellite imagery (e.g., Sentinel, Landsat, Planet, UAV, LiDAR).
- Analyze land-use/land-cover, change detection, ecosystem/ecological modeling, and time‑series analysis.
- Perform spatial modeling, multi‑criteria decision-making, and location intelligence for restoration and conservation.
- Manage geodatabases, data pipelines, and ETL processes for spatial datasets.
- Developing automation of geospatial workflows (Python, R, or Google Earth Engine).
- Monitoring Deforestation
Geospatial Communication & Visualization
- Produce high‑quality maps, infographics, spatial dashboards, and analytical visualizations.
- Prepare clear methodologies, technical notes, and documentation aligned with project standards.
Project Execution & Technical Support
- Support multi-disciplinary project teams working on forestry, agriculture, sustainability, and land-use planning.
- Provide spatial insights for project design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
- Maintain QA/QC procedures ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of spatial outputs.
Collaboration, Capacity Building & Knowledge Sharing
- Deliver internal and external GIS/RS trainings as needed.
- Contribute to knowledge management for the G&I team, including spatial datasets, tools, and SOPs.
- Engage with clients, partners, and stakeholders on technical geospatial topics.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Remote Sensing, Geography, Geomatics, Forestry, Soil Science, Environmental Science/Natural Resource Management, Computer/Data science, or a related field from a reputable university is required.
- At least 5 years of demonstrable experience in GIS and Remote Sensing.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field is a strong advantage.
Professional Experience
- Proven experience in geospatial data analysis, remote sensing processing, and spatial database management.
- Proficiency in GIS/RS tools.
- Extensive work experience in GIS and remote sensing, and its applications in the forestry, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and/ or climate change
- Expertise of programming languages in R, Python, and Google Earth Engine is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with UAV data processing and cloud-based EO platforms.
- Knowledge and experience working with big data, geospatial database management, and FOLU (Forest and Land Use) monitoring systems.
- Experience using or developing WebGIS/EO dashboards for deforestation/environmental monitoring or similar.
- Strong reporting, visualization, and scientific/technical writing skills.
- Experience in working within and/or managing complex projects, working with cross-functional teams, and delivering high-quality outputs to clients.

- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
This position is based in Indonesia, with flexibility for travel to various project sites as required. Terms of employment, including salary and benefits, will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
