Torin Franklin

Project Manager

Torin is a Project Manager within Daemeter’s Social, Smallholder and Livelihoods unit, where he works across social assessments, supply chain due diligence, HCV biodiversity fieldwork, GHG accounting, and safeguards compliance. His day-to-day work bridges community-level engagement with technical assessment delivery for clients in the palm oil, forestry, and mining sectors, and is increasingly focused on the monitoring, measurement, and reporting elements that translate sustainability commitments into credible, decision-grade performance data.

He has conducted FSC Social Baseline Assessment fieldwork across villages in Sumatera, including leading a participatory mapping exercise, and delivered HCV biodiversity surveys across oil palm concessions in Sulawesi, authoring the bird survey report documenting species with conservation significance and regional endemism. He has co-led a corporate GHG inventory project aligned with the GHG Protocol, supporting emissions accounting and reporting. He has also carried out mill assessments and sustainability performance evaluations for independent palm oil mills, evaluated safeguards compliance for a REDD+ emissions reduction programme in East Kalimantan, and processed supply chain traceability data for client reporting. His work is informed by the FSC Remedy Framework, RSPO, IRMA, Rainforest Alliance, the GHG Protocol, and OECD due diligence guidance.

Torin is motivated by the challenge of translating complex social and environmental dynamics into practical, client-ready recommendations, and values fieldwork that puts community perspectives at the centre of assessment processes.

Born in Indonesia and holding a BSc in Biology from Aberystwyth University in the United Kingdom, Torin is fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia. Torin keeps a busy roster of physical pursuits, from the gym and Muay Thai to sailing and scuba diving whenever the chance comes up.
