Solichin Manuri, PhD
Senior Advisor
Solichin is a Senior Advisor at Daemeter, specialising in forest monitoring, MRV, GHG accounting, and GIS. With over 25 years of experience in forestry and climate science, he provides strategic technical guidance on the firm’s carbon, REDD+, and forest monitoring work, anchoring the measurement, reporting, and verification systems and the digital monitoring infrastructure that underpin credible carbon finance and climate accountability at national, jurisdictional, and project scales.
He has contributed to some of Indonesia’s most significant climate and forestry milestones, including the development of the national FREL submitted to the UNFCCC, Indonesia’s REDD+ performance reporting, and the Biennial Update Report. He has designed MRV systems at both national and provincial levels, developed GHG inventories and baselines for the AFOLU sector, and advanced the science of biomass estimation in tropical peat swamp and mangrove ecosystems through peer-reviewed research published in leading international journals. He currently serves on a government methodology review panel for land-based GHG accounting.
Solichin is motivated by the challenge of strengthening the scientific rigour and practical usability of forest and climate monitoring systems in Indonesia. Before his advisory role at Daemeter, he worked with an international forestry research centre on FREL refinement and peatland carbon science, served as a forest carbon advisor for an international development cooperation programme, and spent five years as a GIS and remote sensing specialist on a forest fire management programme.
He holds a PhD in Environment and Society from the Australian National University, an MSc in Forestry and Environmental Science from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in Germany, and a BSc in Forest Resources Conservation from IPB University. He is fluent in Indonesian and English, with reading proficiency in German.
