Subarno
Senior Project Manager
Subarno leads nature-based solutions and carbon project development within Daemeter’s Forest, Nature and Climate unit. His day-to-day work focuses on designing and implementing NbS and carbon projects that align corporate climate goals with measurable outcomes for environment, biodiversity, and communities, through GHG accounting, MRV, carbon certification, and the digital monitoring systems that underpin credible climate finance.
His expertise spans forestry, peatlands, mangroves, and agricultural landscapes, built over more than a decade working across major GHG programmes and standards, including VCS, Plan Vivo, Gold Standard, CCB, ART-TREES, and Indonesia’s national REDD+ frameworks. He also brings strong GIS, remote sensing, and WebGIS development capabilities, and has authored peer-reviewed research on natural climate solutions. He currently serves as a technical MRV expert appointed by Indonesia’s environment ministry, reviewing climate mitigation methodologies at the national level.
Subarno is driven by the challenge of turning climate science into credible, measurable action on the ground. Before Daemeter, he worked at an international conservation organisation on peatland science and natural climate solutions research, and at a major forestry company developing GHG information systems and forest monitoring tools. He also contributed to national geospatial planning at a government ministry.
He holds a BSc in Geography and Environmental Science from Universitas Gadjah Mada and is a certified Carbon Accounting Specialist. He is fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English, and also speaks Javanese. Subarno’s perfect day involves three things: a good coffee, a campsite, and the company of cats.
